01About these terms
Using Genius means you accept these terms
These terms cover your use of Fixed Ops Genius ("Genius"), the AI assistant of the Fixed Ops Roundtable®. By asking a question or otherwise using Genius, with or without an account, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Genius.
Fixed Ops Roundtable is an initiative of the Center for Performance Improvement, founded in 2019 by Ted Ings. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean the Roundtable. Genius was built for the Roundtable by Chamberlin Design.
Two other pages go with these terms: the Privacy Policy, which explains what Genius collects, and How your chats are used.
02What Genius is
General information, not professional advice
Genius answers questions about automotive dealership fixed operations: service, parts, collision, reconditioning, and the business around them. It searches the Roundtable video library and, when useful, the web, then writes an answer with an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic).
Answers are general information. They are not legal, financial, tax, accounting, employment, or safety advice, and they do not replace a qualified professional, your own compliance review, or a vehicle manufacturer's repair and safety procedures.
03Who can use Genius
Guests, members, and your account
Genius is made for people who work in or with the automotive retail industry. It is not meant for children, and you must be at least 16 to use it.
You can ask 5 questions as a guest, without an account. After that, a free account is needed to keep asking. Your login is a free Fixed Ops Roundtable membership, and the same account works on Genius and on fixedopsroundtable.com. If you ask questions as a guest and then log in or create an account in the same browser, those chats move into your account.
Your membership is also covered by the fixedopsroundtable.com Terms of Use (opens in a new tab) and Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab). Give accurate details when you create an account, keep your password to yourself, and log out when you finish on a shared computer. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
04AI answers
Answers can be wrong, so check what matters
Genius writes with AI. An answer can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, even when it links a source. A quote can be tied to the wrong moment or the wrong person, and two people asking the same question can get different answers.
Before you act on an answer or share it, open the linked video or web page and check the parts that matter. For decisions with real consequences, talk to a qualified professional. Do not rely on Genius to make decisions about a specific person, such as hiring, firing, pay, or discipline.
Roundtable speakers share their own views. When Genius quotes or sums them up, those views stay theirs, not the Roundtable's. Web sources belong to their publishers.
05Acceptable use
Use Genius lawfully and in good faith
You are responsible for what you type into Genius and for how you use its answers. You agree not to:
- use Genius for anything unlawful, abusive, harmful, or fraudulent, or anything that infringes someone else's rights
- enter or attach personal or sensitive information about other people, such as customer names, contact details, vehicle or repair records tied to a person, payment details, or health information
- attach files or photos you do not have the right to share
- enter confidential data you are not allowed to share, such as passwords, account numbers, customer lists, or a dealership's private financials
- try to get around usage limits, safety measures, or access controls, trick Genius into ignoring its instructions, or interfere with how Genius runs
- use bots or scripts to ask questions, or scrape or copy Genius answers or the Roundtable library in bulk, without our written permission
- resell Genius or its answers, or use them to build a competing product
- present an answer as written by a person, or as the view of the Roundtable, a speaker, or a Certified Partner, or suggest an endorsement or affiliation we have not given
06Your content and ours
Your questions, the answers, and the Roundtable's work
You keep whatever rights you have in the questions you send. Only send content you have the right to share. You give us permission to store your questions and the answers, and to use them to run Genius, answer you, keep Genius safe, and improve it, as the Privacy Policy and How your chats are used describe.
You may use the answers you receive in your own work, including at your dealership or business. Answers are not unique to you. Material that an answer quotes or links, such as Roundtable videos and web pages, stays the property of its owners.
The Fixed Ops Roundtable name, logo, marks, and videos belong to the Roundtable or its licensors. Using Genius does not give you any rights in them or in Genius itself. Reusing Roundtable content outside Genius, including quotes from its videos, is covered by the fixedopsroundtable.com Terms of Use (opens in a new tab), which do not allow commercial use without the Roundtable's written permission.
If you rate an answer or send us ideas, we may use that feedback without owing you anything.
07Sponsored content
The sponsor box and sponsors
Sponsors support the Roundtable. At the end of each answer, Genius shows one box marked Sponsored about a sponsor. The box is advertising, not part of the answer. Genius picks the sponsor from your question (for a short follow-up, the question before it too) and the Roundtable's sponsor settings, without seeing the answer. The ad is written ahead of time, approved by the Roundtable team, and links to the sponsor's own website.
Genius is instructed not to recommend, rank, or compare Certified Partners in its answers. An answer can still mention a partner's company or product when it is relevant, and it can cite a Roundtable video that features a partner, including a segment the partner paid to sponsor. Like any AI, Genius does not always follow its instructions. The Roundtable does not endorse or guarantee any product or service mentioned by Genius unless it says so explicitly. Check any product or service yourself before you buy.
Selecting a sponsor box opens the sponsor's own website. Anything you do there, and any deal you make with a sponsor, is between you and that sponsor, under their own terms.
08Limits and changes
Usage limits, changes, and suspension
To keep Genius available for everyone, there are limits on how many questions you can ask each hour and each day, and on how long a question can be. Guests get fewer questions than members, and a Thinking answer counts as two. We may change these limits at any time.
Genius is new and will change. We may add, change, or remove features, or pause or stop Genius, at any time.
We may limit, suspend, or end your access to Genius if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect Genius, the Roundtable, or other people.
You can stop using Genius at any time. To manage or close your membership, use your account page on fixedopsroundtable.com (opens in a new tab).
09Work mode
Work mode and your files
Work mode is for Fixed Ops Roundtable members the Roundtable turns it on for. Each person has a monthly Work limit, and the Roundtable has one for everyone. At a limit, Work pauses until the first of the next month, and the other modes keep answering. The Roundtable sets these limits and may change them at any time.
Upload only files you have the right to use, and leave customer details, such as names, phone numbers, addresses and VINs, out of them.
Genius works out the numbers in a Work answer with code from your files, but a file can be read the wrong way and an assumption can be off. Check the assumptions each answer lists, and check any number that matters before you rely on it, as with every answer.
Work files are deleted after 30 days. Download anything you want to keep.
10Other services
Outside services and links
Genius relies on outside services to work, including an AI model provider that writes answers and runs web searches, and a database and login provider.
Answers link to Roundtable videos on fixedopsroundtable.com, which play from YouTube, and to other websites. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content.
If you use the microphone button, your browser turns your speech into text before Genius receives it, and your browser maker's terms apply to that step.
11No warranties
Genius is provided as is
Genius and its answers are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that Genius will be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error free, or that answers will be accurate, complete, or current. You use answers at your own risk.
12Liability
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Roundtable, the Center for Performance Improvement, and their officers, employees, and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Genius or its answers, including decisions you make based on an answer. Our total liability for any claim related to Genius is limited to one hundred US dollars. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
You agree to defend and hold harmless the Roundtable, the Center for Performance Improvement, and their officers, employees, and partners from any claim or demand arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of Genius.
13Governing law
New York law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
14Changes to these terms
We may update these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always on this page with its last updated date. If you keep using Genius after a change, the updated terms apply to you.
